Aim and Scope

Journal of Methods and Applications in Language Education and Teaching (JMALET) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal that aims to advance scholarly knowledge focusing on methods, approaches, and practices in language education and teaching.

The journal seeks to publish original and high-quality studies that contribute to improving the quality of teaching processes in various fields of language education, including first language education, foreign language teaching, second language teaching, bilingualism, and multilingualism.

The primary aim of JMALET is to contribute to the academic community by publishing theoretical and applied studies that foster the development of language skills, enhance the effectiveness of language teaching processes, improve teaching methods and techniques, enrich instructional materials, and strengthen learning and teaching processes. In this regard, the journal supports research addressing current approaches in language education and teaching, instructional practices, interdisciplinary studies, and technology-supported learning environments.

The scope of the journal includes theoretical, methodological, and practice-oriented research, review, and development studies related to language education and teaching. In this context, the journal welcomes studies on the following topics:

• first language education, foreign language teaching, second language teaching, bilingualism, and multilingualism;
• methods, techniques, and practices for teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation;
• instructional approaches and instructional designs aimed at developing language skills;
• studies on the design, implementation, evaluation, and development of language curricula;
• development, adaptation, and evaluation of instructional materials, as well as textbook analyses;
• classroom practices, instructional strategies, methods, and techniques;
• technology-supported language teaching, distance education, online learning environments, and artificial intelligence-supported instructional practices;
• teacher education, teacher competencies, and professional development;
• assessment and evaluation in language teaching, formative assessment, feedback, and alternative assessment practices;
• instructional practices for learners with learning difficulties, inclusive education, and different age groups or learner profiles;
• cultural transmission, intercultural communication, and values education;

JMALET welcomes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research, as well as review studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, meta-syntheses, scale development and adaptation studies, action research, design-based research, model proposals, and practice-oriented scholarly studies. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are expected to make original theoretical, methodological, or practical contributions to the field of language education and teaching.

The journal aims to provide a scholarly platform for researchers, faculty members, teachers, graduate students, curriculum developers, and practitioners in the field of education to share knowledge and exchange ideas.
