The Journal of Methods and Aplications in Language Education and Teaching (JMALET) adopts principles of ethics, transparency, and responsibility regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools in academic publishing processes. This policy is developed in line with the guidelines of internationally recognized authorities, particularly the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

General Principles
JMALET acknowledges that AI tools may be used as supportive tools in academic work. However, such use must be transparent, ethical, and verifiable.
Authorship and Responsibility
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. All academic, ethical, and legal responsibility lies with the human authors. Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of any content generated with the assistance of AI.
Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must clearly disclose if AI tools were used in their work. The name of the tool, the purpose of use, and the scope of use must be specified. This disclosure should preferably be included in the Method section, Acknowledgements, or in a separate section titled “Use of Artificial Intelligence”.
Acceptable Use
The following uses are considered acceptable: language editing, text improvement, technical assistance, and limited content suggestions.
Unacceptable Use
The following practices are considered ethical violations: use of AI-generated content without proper acknowledgment, data generation or manipulation, fabrication or distortion of scientific findings using AI, and failure to disclose the use of AI.
Use of AI by Reviewers
Reviewers must not upload or share submitted manuscripts with third-party AI tools. Due to confidentiality requirements, manuscript content must not be entered into external systems. AI tools may only be used for limited support purposes.
Use of AI by Editors
Editors may use AI tools only for technical and editorial support purposes. Final decisions remain the responsibility of the editors. In cases of suspected ethical misconduct, necessary investigations will be initiated.
