Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Methods and Applications in Language Education and Teaching (JMALET) adopts a double-blind peer review system to ensure the scientific quality, impartiality, and integrity of the publication process. Under this system, the identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Each manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes the following stages.

1. Initial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript is examined by the editorial office with regard to:

• compliance with the journal's aims and scope,
• adherence to the author guidelines,
• scientific and academic quality,
• compliance with publication ethics,
• similarity report.

Manuscripts that do not satisfy these requirements may be returned to the authors without being sent for peer review.

2. Editorial Evaluation

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are evaluated by the editor or the relevant associate editor in terms of their originality, scientific contribution, methodological soundness, and overall suitability for publication. Manuscripts may be rejected at this stage if they are considered unsuitable for further review.

3. Peer Review

Suitable manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

• originality,
• scientific contribution,
• methodological quality,
• contribution to the literature,
• language and presentation,
• compliance with ethical standards.

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, one of the following editorial decisions may be made:

• Accept,
• Minor Revision,
• Major Revision,
• Reject.

4. Revision Process

If revisions are requested, the manuscript is returned to the author(s).

Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts by addressing the reviewers' comments and resubmit the revised version within the specified period. Revised manuscripts may be sent to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

5. Final Decision

The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

Although editorial decisions are based primarily on the reviewers' reports, the Editor-in-Chief has the final authority regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript.

6. Production Process

Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage, which includes:

• language editing,
• typesetting,
• final proofreading,
• DOI assignment.

After these processes are completed, the manuscript is scheduled for publication.

Principles of Peer Review

The peer review process at JMALET is conducted in accordance with the following principles:

• a double-blind peer review system is applied;
• reviewer reports are treated confidentially;
• manuscripts are evaluated solely on scholarly merit;
• conflicts of interest are avoided throughout the review process;
• the entire review process is conducted in accordance with the principles of impartiality, confidentiality, and academic integrity.
